Strir Fried Pork and Egg

    Although this sounded a bit strange at first it turned out to be a wonderfully easy and tasty dish. Serve with jasmine rice.

    Serves: 2 

    • 2 cloves of garlic, thinly sliced
    • 500g pork mince or chicken mince
    • 3 tablespoons fish sauce
    • 2 teaspoons sugar
    • 1 tablespoon lime juice
    • 2 eggs
    • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
    • 2 spring onions, diced, to garnish

    1. Heat oil in the wok to a high temperature then add garlic slices and cook them until they are light brown. Then add pork mince to the dish. Stir in the fish sauce, sugar and lime juice.
    2. Stir fry until the meat is cooked. Spread the meat evenly across the wok, add eggs on top of meat. Using a spatula, break the egg yolk and spread them on top of meat. At this point, don't stir or turn the meat over. Let the egg sit for about a minute and then using spatula turn over the meat with egg on top, so the top of the egg will cook.
    3. After the egg is cooked break apart the meat and turn over again. This time, transfer to a serving dish and garnish with spring onion.

    Usually I blend pork and eggs together, and pan fry all of them. This time, I followed the cook method of the original recipe, cooked the pork first then added the egg, and I felt they worked better in this way!     really awful recipe,very mismatched combo. fish sauce made it far to salty, and smelt the whole house for hours afterwards .2 tablespoons i think should say teaspoons. none of us ate it it was quite vile. would not make it again yuk ps i must add i like thai food and use fish sauce in a small amount in a green curry and like it normally  -  21 Mar 2013  (Review from Allrecipes UK & Ireland)
