Simple Plain Pound Cake

    I adapted this recipe from a few cake recipes I found. Its my idea to melt the chocolate block on the top, you can just sift icing sugar on top or top with cream or other icing.

    Serves: 5 

    • 100g butter, softened
    • 100g caster sugar
    • 2 large eggs
    • 100g self raising flour
    • 200g block chocolate or icing sugar or icing for decoration

    1. Preheat oven to 190 degrees C. Grease and line a cake tin.
    2. Measure all the ingredients and place the butter and sugar in the mixing bowl and beat until creamy.
    3. Slowly add the beaten eggs and flour.
    4. Put the mixed batter in a cake tin and directly into the preheated oven. Cook for 25-30 minutes.
    5. After you have taken the cake out, melt the chcolate and drizzle over the cake or if you are using icing sugar wait until cake has cooled.
    6. Let the cake cool completely before serving.
