Scary Mummy Cupcakes

    40 minutes

Its all about the icing! I made these scary/cute mummy cup cakes for Halloween. I used this easy chocolate cupcakes recipe - without the raspberry - but you can use cake mix if you need to save time on the cakes. You can do anything crazy with the icing - this is just a basic guide.

    18 people made this

    Serves: 16

    Preparation:25min  ›  Cook:15min  ›  Ready in:40min

    1. Make the cupcakes according to the recipe (or use your own cake recipe!).
    2. Prepare the icing according to the recipe (or use your own icing recipe).
    3. Place the icing in an icing bag or a plastic bag with the corner cut off. Pipe the icing onto the cooled cupcakes as pictured, leaving an eye shape in the middle. In the middle of the exposed eye shape on each cupcake, pipe two dots in the middle for the mummy's eyes. Place chocolate chips flat side up in the middle of each dot for pupils.

    The taste outweighs the scare-factor!  -  12 Oct 2016

I made these yesterday however I used pre-bought vanilla buttercream icing. Mine don't look as professional as the picture (I am an amateur ice-er) so I think I will invest in a proper piping bag for the future. Despite them looking slightly like fluffy clouds they have been a massive hit in the office! Thank you for the idea!  -  29 Oct 2010  (Review from Allrecipes UK & Ireland)

I made them as mini cupcakes and it still worked great. I used butter cream icing, so it ended up looking more 'aged'  -  30 Oct 2017  (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)
