Yes this is hot but I like chillies. This tastes even better the next day so is ok to leave in the fridge if it doesn't get eaten all in one go. It also makes a good nachos or taco sauce.


Serves: 4 

  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 500g beef mince
  • 4 red chillies, chopped (or to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoons oregano
  • 3 tablespoon cayenne chilli powder
  • 2 tablespoons cumin
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 (400g) tin chopped tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 beef stock cube
  • 1 (400g) tin red kidney beans

Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:1hour30min  ›  Ready in:1hour40min 

  1. Heat a frypan with the oil. Fry the onion and garlic until softened. Add the mince and cook until browned.
  2. Mix in the chillies, paprika, oregano, cayenne, cumin, tomato paste, tinned tomatoes and Worcestershire sauce.
  3. Once mixed, crumble the stock cube over it all and mix again and leave to simmer for 1 hour.
  4. After the hour is up, add the kidney beans and leave for another ten minutes. Serve with sour cream and rice.
