Easy Plain Butter Biscuits

    Simple to make biscuit recipe. Sprinkle with any topping if you want to jazz them up. Hope you enjoy them.

    Serves: 15 

    • 2 cups (250g) self raising flour
    • pinch of salt
    • 180g butter, softened
    • 1/2 cup (125g) sugar
    • 1 beaten egg

    Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:12min  ›  Ready in:27min 

    1. preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Sift flour and salt into a bowl, then rub in the butter until it resembles breadcrumbs.
    2. Add sugar and beaten egg and mix into a stiff dough, turn out onto a floured surface and knead gently until smooth.
    3. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for about 30 mins.
    4. Roll out onto a floured surface about 5mm thick, and cut into about 30 biscuits.
    5. Place on a greased baking tray and place in oven at 180 degrees C for about 12-15 mins until golden.

    Hannah. .. tried to reply to your question with no luck so I hope you see this! The best way I've found to store is freezing in a log at dough stage prior to cooking. Partly thaw & slice to cook as needed. If you want variation, press onto top before baking eg nuts, chocolate etc. I had this recipe years ago & absolutely loved it. I then lost it and have been searching for years. So so happy to have finally found it to share with my grandchildren 😊  -  02 Jul 2015
