Keri's Shepherd's Pie

    1 hour 10 minutes

A pretty standard shepherd's pie but with extra flavourings from fresh and dried herbs. You can't go past a dish like this for comfort warmth and it's cheap as to make.

    1. Heat the oil in a frying pan. Add the onion and fry for 5 mins. Add the mince and fry for 5 mins or until it loses its pinkness.
    2. Add stock, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, herbs, parsley and salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for 20 mins. Then add the gravox to slightly thicken.
    3. Transfer to a greased ovenproof dish, and top with mashed potatoes and bake in the oven for 30 mins.

I made this one, but added diced carrot with the onions, and in the last 5 minutes of simmering added some frozen peas. It was so good that whatever didn't fit into my baking dish I just ate haha  -  30 Apr 2016

I'll try this with the herbs and worcesteshire sauce, sounds like a good variety - BUT I must point out that this is cottage pie, shepherd's pie is made with lamb not beef  -  24 Apr 2013
