Cheesy Potato Bake

This is a great side dish to any meat but especially roast beef. It is also a good way to get some dairy into your diet.


Serves: 6 

  • 1 clove garlic, halved
  • 1 kg potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 1/2 cups (625ml) thickened cream
  • 300g freshly grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 pinch salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Preparation:30min  ›  Cook:1hour  ›  Ready in:1hour30min 

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C.
  2. Rub the bottom and sides of the baking dish with the cut side of the garlic. Spread a layer of potatoes then a layer of cream, then a layer of grated cheese, then salt and pepper in the baking dish.
  3. Continue with more layers until all ingredients are used ending with a layer of cream and cheese.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour.
