Sausage Rolls with Apple

    40 minutes

Sausage rolls can become a bit boring but this recipe has apples infused right into the sausage along with mixed herbs. They are too good to be dipped in tomato sauce.

    9 people made this

    Serves: 6

    • 250g puff pastry
    • 500g sausage meat
    • 2 cooking apples, peeled and diced
    • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
    • 1 teaspoon mixed herbs
    • 1 pinch salt and pepper, to taste
    • 1 egg, whisked, to glaze

    Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:25min  ›  Ready in:40min

    1. In a mixing bowl combine the apple in with the sausage meat then add the garlic, herbs and salt mix.
    2. Lay out the puff pastry sheets then brush the edge of the pastry with whisked egg. Take a portion of the sausage mix and place along one edge. With floured hands roll the pastry into a sausage roll.
    3. Cut the roll into 5cm lengths, scoring on the top then brush with the whisked egg and bake for about 25 minutes at 140 degrees C.

YUM YUM I used an eating apple instead of a cooking apple, and this was lovely. Will definitely make again. Brilliant for our picnic  -  15 Aug 2013  (Review from Allrecipes UK & Ireland)
