Crunchie Bar Ice Cream

    1 hour 10 minutes

The cream is boosted with condensed milk then flavoured with coffee and brandy that compliment the crunchie wonderfully.

    4 people made this

    Serves: 6

    • 1 tablespoon instant coffee
    • 1 tablespoon brandy
    • 600ml thickened cream
    • 400ml sweetened condensed milk
    • 3 crunchie bars, crushed

    Preparation:10min  ›  Extra time:1hour freezing  ›  Ready in:1hour10min

    1. Dissolve the instant coffee in the brandy.
    2. Add this to the cream and condensed milk then whisk until it forms soft peaks.
    3. Stir in the crushed crunchie bars.
    4. Pour into a suitable container with a lid and deep freeze. There's no need to even stir it whilst it's freezing.
    5. Take it out of the freezer for 10 minutes before you're ready to serve. Or if you forget, do what I do and give it a 5 second blast on high in the microwave to soften.

For ages I have been looking for a recipe for homemade icecream that does not require an icecream maker - this one is just fabulous! SO EASY. I used two cartons of double cream (Elmlea size) and 2/3 tin of condensed milk. That is that basic icecream and I have experimented with different flavours. Crushed up crunchie is amazing, coffee and brandy also, mint choc chip, strawberry. Just add anything! It freezes well with NO CRYSTALS! It defrosts nicely and is easy to scoop. It looks very professional and is an absolute winner! Be careful when adding the condensed milk as it can be very sweet. Thank you TomsMum!!  -  13 Feb 2012  (Review from Allrecipes UK & Ireland)
