Spaghetti Bolognese with Bacon

A hearty, beefy, saucy spaghetti bolognese. The bacon and red wine are the critical ingredients that make this good bolognese awesome bolognese.


Serves: 4 

  • 2 cloves garlic, finely diced
  • 1 large onion, finely diced
  • 500g mince
  • 6 rashers smoked bacon, diced
  • 175ml red wine
  • 1 (400g) tin diced tomatoes
  • 5 sticks celery, diced
  • 1 beef stock cube
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 small bunch fresh oregano
  • 1 small bunch fresh basil

Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:50min  ›  Extra time:1hour  ›  Ready in:2hours 

  1. Brown the mince with the garlic and onion in a little water then add the bacon.
  2. Add the red wine, diced tomatoes, celery and beef stock cube.
  3. Finally add the bay leaves, oregano and basil. Bring to the boil then simmer for about 40 minutes.
