Creamy Chocolate Icing

This icing is not as sickly as buttercream but is much nicer than plain glace icing. It sets but not too solidly. This makes enough to ice and fill and 20cm cake.


Serves: 1 

  • 60g butter or margarine
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 1/2 cups (250g) sifted icing sugar

Preparation:5min  ›  Cook:5min  ›  Extra time:10min  ›  Ready in:20min 

  1. Put butter, milk and cocoa into a saucepan then heat gently until it's all melted and mixed together. Take it off the heat and allow to cool slightly.
  2. Add the icing sugar about a quarter of it at a time then beat until smooth.
