Chocolate Chip Loaf Cake

    Sometimes you just need chocolate and this loaf cake delivers; chocolate cake with chocolate chips, so why not ice with chocolate icing as well?

    Serves: 4 

    • 175g plain flour
    • 50g cocoa
    • 1/2 teaspoon bicarb soda
    • 2 teaspoon baking powder
    • 150g sugar
    • 80g butter
    • 2 eggs, lightly whisked
    • 30g chocolate chips

    Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:40min  ›  Ready in:55min 

    1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
    2. Sift together flour, cocoa, bicarb soda and baking powder; stir in sugar.
    3. In a separate bowl combine melted butter, eggs and milk; mix.
    4. Gently mix both bowls together until well combined.
    5. Spoon into a small greased bread tin and bake for 40-50 minutes until springy to the touch and cool on a wire rack.

    Beautiful cake, however you failed to include how much milk is required. We guessed 1 cup and it worked perfectly. Didn't last very long at all!  -  26 Feb 2012


    Great! Used coconut milk not dairy. So rich and yummy, cooked less time to keep it fudgy. Actually just came back to make it a 2nd time and reviewed it while here.  -  13 May 2013
