This is a whole shoulder of pork that is oven cooked in a combination of Chinese spices and flavourings. It is a tender and spicy delight.

I made this today using 900g of pork steaks. I kept the recipe measurements the same even though I used less meat as we like a lot of sauce. Instead of vinegar, I used balsamic vinegar. I also added an extra teaspoon of Chinese 5 spice and added a star anise (just the one). I made my own egg fried rice. Cook your rice then let it cool down to stop it going sticky. Add 2 tablespoons of sesame oil to the rice once its cool. whisk some eggs together. defrost some peas. heat a wok on high, add the rice and cook for 2-3 minutes, move the rice to one side then add the whisked eggs and stir using a spatula turning it into scrambled egg then stir it into the rice, add the pieces and cook for a couple of minutes, add your peas and you can add some spring onions too if you want. Just before serving add soy sauce to the rice to taste. Delicious, cheap meal. I won't bother with a chinese takeaway again as this cost under £4 to make including the egg fried rice and could easily feed 4. - 04 Feb 2018 (Review from Allrecipes UK & Ireland)
