Mince and Bean Bake

    25 minutes

Very simple, quick and tasty. I always prepare this when my English family visits. Lovely served with bread and a fresh lettuce salad.

    3 people made this

    Serves: 4

    • 500g beef mince
    • 1 onion, diced
    • 1 (400g) tin baked beans in tomato sauce
    • 30ml cream, to taste
    • 1 pinch salt and pepper, to taste
    • 1 pinch Tabasco sauce (optional)
    • 1 pinch chives (optional)
    • 30g cheese, grated
    • 30g breadcrumbs
    • 30g butter

    Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Ready in:25min

    1. Brown the mince. Drain off the fat.
    2. Add onion to the mince, when softened pour in the baked beans with tomato sauce.
    3. Add some cream (I never measure, just add until it looks tasty).
    4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
    5. Add Tabasco and chives (optional).
    6. Heat well and pour in an oven dish. Sprinkle grated cheese and breadcrumbs over the dish. Drop a few small lumps of butter on the top. Put the dish under the grill until the cheese and breadcrumbs look nicely browned. Serve.

Great simple and tasty! Didn't have any Tabasco so I put some minced chilli in. And I put some potato mash on top of the mince mixture before the cheese and breadcrumbs. Made it into a very hearty autumn dinner with some steamed veg.  -  24 May 2014

If you put tomatoes chopped into quarters on top of the cheese n breadcrumbs befor grilling it tottaly transforms this dish. It defo needed something to lift it. The grilled tomatoes worked a treat!  -  16 May 2013  (Review from Allrecipes UK & Ireland)

Easy peasy! I added a good old slosh of tabasco, which I think it needed.  -  02 Jun 2010  (Review from Allrecipes UK & Ireland)
