    This is a delicious and very simple side dish to make when the rest of the meal is more labourious. The wine brings out the flavour of the asparagus.

    Serves: 4 

    • 500g fresh asparagus spears, trimmed
    • 1/4 cup (65ml) white wine
    • 2 tablespoons butter

    Preparation:3min  ›  Cook:3min  ›  Ready in:6min 

    1. Place asparagus in a microwave-safe dish. Pour in wine and dot with pieces of butter.
    2. Cover loosely and cook in the microwave on High for 3 minutes, or until bright green and tender. Allow the dish to stand 5 minutes before serving.

    This recipe makes some of the most amazing asparagus I've had. However, the recommended cooking time yeilds a crunchier asparagus, so if you are a fan of soft aspargus just zap it a little longer.  -  10 Aug 2006  (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)
