Chocolate Walnut Meringues

    These biscuits are the perfect thing to make after a day of cooking (such as at Christmas), when the oven is hot.

    Serves: 24 

    • 2 egg whites
    • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
    • 1/8 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 cup (125g) white sugar
    • 3/4 teaspoon vanilla essence
    • 1 cup (125g) chopped walnuts
    • 2 cups (375g) dark chocolate chips

    1. Beat egg whites to a froth with cream of tartar and salt. Gradually add sugar.
    2. Beat at medium speed for 10 minutes. Beat in vanilla. Stir in nuts and chocolate chips.
    3. Drop by spoonfuls on a greased baking tray. Place in an oven preheated to 190 degrees C. TURN OFF heat as soon as you put the biscuits in. Leave in closed oven overnight.

    Taste great!!!! my family loved them, i made them for the holidays and there best made after your done everything else when the stoves been running all day!! they take a while to bake properly but there worth it!!!! its very simple again i loved them!!  -  09 Feb 2008  (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)
