Hamburgers Barbecued with Pineapple and Bacon

A pineapple and bacon burger all cooked together. Slightly simpler, though not quite as good, is to cook the ingredients separately and combine at the end.


Serves: 4 

  • 1kg lean beef mince
  • 1/2 cup (125ml) barbecue sauce
  • 225g can sliced pineapple
  • 8 slices bacon
  • salt and pepper to taste

  1. Preheat the barbecue to medium low heat.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together hamburger meat and barbecue sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Shape mixture into 4 large patties. Place a slice of pineapple on top of each. Crisscross 2 bacon strips around each burger, and secure with toothpicks.
  4. Oil the barbecue and add the burgers. Cook, covered, until the burger is cooked through. Turn often to avoid burning the bacon.
