BBQ Fish Steaks

A great lemon based marinade for Jewfish steaks before chucking them on the BBQ. One or two hours of marinating is all that is required, any longer and it negatively effects the texture of the fish.

Serves: 4 

  • 100ml fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon diced dill
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt or to taste
  • 1 pinch ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 kg jewfish steaks
  • 4 sprigs fresh dill to garnish

Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Extra time:1hour marinating  ›  Ready in:1hour20min 

  1. Mix together lemon juice, olive oil, diced dill, salt and pepper in a shallow glass dish.
  2. Add fish to the mixture and turn to coat both sides, then cover. Refrigerate 1 to 2 hours turning once or twice.
  3. Preheat barbecue grill to a medium/hot heat.
  4. Place fish in on the barbecue and grill for 10 to 12 minutes, turning once and brushing twice with reserved marinade until steaks are barely opaque in thickest part.
  5. Arrange on a platter and garnish with the dill .
