Spaghetti and Italian Meatballs

    A really easy spaghetti and meatball recipe using Italian sausages and store bought sauce. No need to add anything as it’s already been done for you. If you like Italian sausages then you’re gonna love this recipe.

    Serves: 6 

    • 12 Italian sausages, mild or spicy
    • 2 jars (500g) of your favourite tomato sauce
    • 1 packet (375g) spaghetti
    • 2 tablespoons olive oil
    • 1/2 cup cheese (parmesan or pecorino)
    • 1/4 cup parsley or basil (chopped)

    1. Remove the meat from the sausage casings and roll into balls, or for a rustic look just pinch the meat at intervals while still in the casing and slide the meat out, you should get 3 or 4 balls out of each sausage.
    2. Heat the oil in a large frying pan, (I used an electric pan) fry the meatballs until golden, about 5 mins, then add the sauce and simmer for about 20 mins.
    3. While the sauce is simmering, boil the water for the spaghetti, add salt and cook to packet instructions.
    4. Strain spaghetti and put into a large serving bowl, add a couple of ladles full of the sauce and mix through the spaghetti, now add the meatballs and the rest of the sauce.
    5. Garnish with parsley or basil & the cheese.


    The meatballs and sauce can be frozen for a couple of months in an air tight container ready for another day, just thaw in the fridge the night before you want to use it.

    Meatballs are also great on their own

    For something a little different you can skip the spaghetti and just make the meatballs, they are great on their own or in a bread roll, hot or cold.
