A traditional Lebanese dish of baked chicken and potatoes with garlic and lemon. Unbelievably simple but ever so delicious.


Serves: 4 

  • 8 chicken pieces
  • 8 medium potatoes, peeled and quartered
  • 1 pinch salt, to taste
  • 1 pinch ground white pepper, to taste
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1/2 cup (125ml) extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 cup (250ml) fresh lemon juice

Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:1hour  ›  Ready in:1hour15min 

  1. Preheat oven to 220 degrees C.
  2. Place chicken and potatoes in a large baking dish. Season generously with salt and white pepper.
  3. In a bowl stir together garlic, olive oil and lemon juice. Pour over chicken and potatoes. Cover dish with foil.
  4. Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes. Remove foil then increase heat to 245 degrees C and cook until chicken and potatoes are golden; about 30 minutes.

Loved this! Doesn't feel that healthy with all that oil, but a great comforting winter dish. I added a tin of creamed corn and bit if chillie sauce. My husband and I thought very tasty. Cut potato very small to cook. - 29 Jul 2015


Easy to make but the lemon is really overpowering. The chicken peices were quite tasty but I made the mistake of spooning some of the sauce over before serving. It was however very entertaining watching everyones face when eating it - hilarious in fact - 14 Jun 2015


So easy and delicious! I added some cumin and cayenne to spice it up but other than that stayed true to the recipe. I'll definitely make this again. - 11 Feb 2015
