This is a sweet and slightly gooey chocolate pancake that goes well with fresh fruit.

Makes: 4 pancakes

  • 1 1/4 cups (155g) plain flour
  • 1/4 cup (30g) cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 1/4 cups (285ml) milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 40g melted butter
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips

Preparation:5min  ›  Cook:8min  ›  Ready in:13min

  1. Whisk flour, cocoa powder, sugar and salt together in a large bowl. Beat eggs, milk and vanilla in another bowl; mix in the melted butter. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry, and mix just until combined. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  2. Heat a lightly oiled frypan over medium-high heat. For each pancake, pour 1/4 cup batter into the frypan and cook until bubbles pop in the centre of the pancake, about 2 to 3 minutes. Flip and cook an additional minute on the opposite side.

Cook's Note

Serve these chocolate treats warm with a sprinkling of icing sugar or fresh strawberries.

I don't know why I've trusted a pancake recipe with no leavening agent... It is not sweet enough and the pancakes have a rubbery texture. Definitely not fluffy and puffy like the picture. Utter regrets. - 19 Aug 2016

Tasted a little funny but was delicious! - 06 Dec 2015
