Easy Chocolate Cake in the Microwave

A wonderful chocolate cake recipe made in the microwave for ease and convenience. Eat hot with a scoop of ice cream!


Serves: 24 

  • 250g butter
  • 1/4 cup (30g) cocoa
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups (440g) white sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups (185g) plain flour
  • 1 cup diced walnuts
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 2 cups small marshmallows
  • 2 cups (315g) icing sugar
  • 1/3 cup (45g) cocoa
  • 1/3 cup (165ml) milk

  1. In 20 x 30cm microwave-safe cake pan, melt the butter and 1/4 cup cocoa together. Stir in the eggs. Mix in the 2 cups sugar, flour, nuts and vanilla.
  2. Bake in microwave oven on high for 11 minutes rotating pan after 5 minutes. Remove from microwave and sprinkle marshmallows on top.
  3. To make the icing: In microwave-safe bowl combine icing sugar, cocoa and milk. Cook in microwave for 2 minutes, stir and pour over cake.
