    For something a little different try this refreshing and soothing drink. Lavender adds a floral note.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 8 

    • 2 cups (500ml) boiling water
    • 1 cup lavender flowers
    • 2 cups (500ml) cold water
    • 1 cup (250ml) lemon juice
    • 1 cup (240g) sugar

    Directions
    Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:8min  ›  Extra time:1hour chilling  ›  Ready in:1hour18min 

    1. Place the lavender in a jug then pour the boiling water over the lavender. Cover with plastic wrap and allow to steep 10 minutes before sieving; discard the lavender.
    2. Return the water to the jug. Add the cold water, lemon juice and sugar to the jug and stir until the sugar dissolves. Refrigerate until serving.

    Very pronounced lavender flavor with a pretty pink color!! My kitchen smelled like aromatherapy during and afterwards! I used dried organic culinary lavender (which I ordered over the internet).     This is way too much sugar. I had to fill the rest of the 2 qt pitcher up to dilute it and it's still way too sugary. Great concept, though. I used lavender leaves instead of flowers and 1/4 cup reconstituted lemon juice since I had no fresh on hand. Next time, I think I'll cut the sugar in half, add a little more lemon juice, and enough water to fill a 2 qt pitcher.  -  29 Jul 2011  (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)
