Spice Cake

    Serves: 12 

    • 250g self-raising flour
    • 150g brown sugar
    • 4 tablespoons golden syrup
    • 1 cup milk
    • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
    • 2 teaspoons mixed spice
    • pinch salt

    Preparation:30min  ›  Cook:1hour  ›  Ready in:1hour30min 

    1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Grease a loaf tin.
    2. Sift flour into bowl, add brown sugar, golden syrup, cinnamon, mixed spice and salt.
    3. Mix in milk. Mix to combine.
    4. Pour into a loaf pan. Bake in preheated oven at 180 degrees C for 60 - 70 mins.

    Easy, quick and tasty although the cooking temp and time is out. I used a fan forced oven at 165 degrees and cooked for 35 mins and next time i plan to reduce it to 30 mins.  -  17 Feb 2016

    I'm so glad I tried this recipe, not only is it super simple to make but it tastes fab too. I used dark muscovado sugar instead and baked in a 7x7 cake tin, which took about 30 minutes to cook. Would highly recommend this recipe to everyone.  -  18 Dec 2011  (Review from Allrecipes UK & Ireland)
