    Traditional family favourite. You can use biscuit cutter cut into shapes of your choice and have it plain or dust them with sifted icing sugar to coat.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 24 

    • 250g butter
    • 1/2 cup caster sugar
    • 2 1/2 cups sifted plain flour

    Directions
    Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:20min  ›  Ready in:30min 

    1. Preheat oven to 220 degrees C. Line baking tray with baking paper. Cream the butter with the caster sugar, add flour until well combined.
    2. Cut into circles or squares, and fork the top if preferred.
    3. Place on lined baking tray and bake in preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until slightly golden. Remove from oven and stand to cool.

    Cooks Notes:

    This also can be transformed to other biscuit recipes such as melting moments biscuit base or really any biscuit base with use of imagination. You can add choc bits for choc chip cookies, raspberry centres and so on.

    I found 220 far too hot and they burnt underneath. Good flavour. I added a little salt at the end before baking and next timr I'll add a bit of vanilla and only cook at 170-180. - 19 Apr 2015
