    This recipe is a delicious change from the regular chocolate chip biscuits. My mother made these regularly and I have since started adding orange zest - Yum! If you make smaller sized cookies, there will be more to go around!

    Ingredients
    Serves: 12 

    • 1 egg
    • 1/2 cup margarine
    • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
    • 1/2 cup white sugar
    • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
    • 1 cup self raising flour
    • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
    • 1/8 tsp cloves or 1/4 tsp nutmeg
    • 1 1/2 cups quick cooking oats
    • 3/4 cup sultanas
    • grated zest 1 small orange

    Directions
    Preparation:15min  ›  Extra time:15min  ›  Ready in:30min 

    1. Preheat fan forced oven to 180 C. Line baking trays with baking paper.
    2. Cream together egg, margarine, and sugars and vanilla extract until well mixed.
    3. Mix in flour, spices, oats, sultanas and orange zest until combined.
    4. Drop by teaspoonful onto lined baking trays. Leave a bit of room for spreading. Bake for 14-17 mins until light golden brown. Allow to cool on trays. Share with family and friends and enjoy!

    Needed a quick recipe to cook to treat the girls at work and this definitely fitted the bill. It was very easy to make and they were ready in no time I made a couple of tweeks I didn't have sultanas so left them out and changed cloves for mixed spice. They were a big hit and really tasted delicious and left the house smelling of Christmas. The only problem was that they were gone too quickly  -  12 Dec 2012  (Review from Allrecipes UK & Ireland)

    Very nice,simple to make. Bit too much sugar for me so I'll be reducing that next time as there's enough flavour with the spices. Like previous reviewer I substituted the cloves but I used nutmeg instead.  -  15 Mar 2015  (Review from Allrecipes UK & Ireland)
