Nonions Spag Bol

    The easiest way to make a yummy spaghetti bolognese (or bolognaise) using Watties Italian Tomatoes. No onions required!

    Serves: 4 

    • 400g premium beef mince
    • 1 400g tin Watties Italian Tomatoes (with oregano & basil)
    • 1 290g tin tomato puree
    • 1/2 cup water
    • 2 cloves garlic
    • 400g dried spaghetti pasta
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 1/2 tsp ground pepper
    • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
    • Parmesan cheese
    • No onion

    Preparation:5min  ›  Cook:35min  ›  Ready in:40min 

    1. Chop garlic and heat in olive oil, from cold, until sizzling - don't brown.
    2. Add mince and stir fry on high heat until not red anymore - break apart into small clumps.
    3. Add tomatoes, puree, salt, pepper and water. Mix and simmer (partly covered) for 30 mins until sauce starts to thicken. Stir occasionally.
    4. 10mins before sauce is cooked, cook pasta as per instructions on packet. When cooked, don't drain - use tongs to transfer direct to plates taking with it some of the water for flavour and juice.
    5. Sprinkle parmesan onto pasta before spooning sauce on top and again onto the sauce.

    really lovely and my family cleaned their plates. Made a few small tweeks to the recipe second time round and added a few extras that gave it a 'kick'  -  28 May 2011  (Review from Allrecipes UK & Ireland)
