Red Wine Oxtail

    Perfect for slow cooker. Trim fat from oxtail before cooking, otherwise the meal will end up swimming in fat!

    Serves: 6 

    • 1 oxtail
    • 500g stew meat
    • 1 large onion
    • 1 large potato
    • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
    • 1 (400g) tin diced tomatoes
    • 200ml red wine
    • 1/2 cup gravy powder [plain flour can be substituted]
    • 1 teaspoon black pepper

    Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:8hours  ›  Ready in:8hours15min 

    1. Put meat and oxtail in plastic container with gravy powder. Shake well to coat.
    2. Dice onion and potato.
    3. Place all ingredients in slowcooker and barely cover with cold water.
    4. Cook on high for 6 hours, or low for 8 hours.
    5. Serve with crusty bread.
